Happy Holidays from eROI

Dec 19 2008

Well the holidays are almost here. Many of you have been burning the midnight oil to get your email campaigns together, tested, sent, and it might have felt like the “shampoo effect” at at time (lather, rinse, repeat) but you made it. And yes you will get a few days to hunker down and enjoy some time away from the glowing screen… OR will you.

Many of you are just now gearing up for the rush to target the shoppers on Christmas day or the days following. So either way we wanted to give you something to enjoy. If you are not already a subscriber to our email newsletter, but a reader of this blog… here is a treat from us to enjoy at your holiday party, in the car, on your iPod or even while cranking out that next stellar, revenue generating campaign.

Two of the eROI team who are also DJs made you 3 1 hour mixed to give you an audio vacation. We know you will enjoy them as something to dance to, or just have playing in the background.

The offer for the KillROI (eROI’s mascot of sorts) was already so successful that we have packed them all up in just the first 3 hours of the email drop today to all of those that requested them. Limited editions and we hope to see some great photos of them in the wild reminding you to do your best work and to be cognizant of your task… do be relevant, respectful and focused.

And you deserve it. You are often the unsung heros of the marketing world. So enjoy, take some time to clear your brain, enjoy some cocktails and see you “offline friends” for your time off.

Thank you for being a reader of this blog, adding your comments and I look forward to giving you more fun things to see and think about in 2009.

Enjoy the tunes and feel free to send the link on to anyone else you want to share these custom made tracks with.

Listen and get them now >>>

Hooray both for the KillROI and the mixes! The mixes have been keeping me going at my office, and KillROI is looming forbiddingly over my monitor, just daring spammers to strike. You’ve made it a very happy holiday here at the OK Corral.

The Killroi was just dropped by airplane as the funky mixes hit my inbox. Great work and it’s a pleasant change from all the Jinglebells… Action pictures from the Killroi ‘goes Europe’ will follow later ;-)

    Have a great X-Mas,

    Comments from DJ Waldow

As much as it pains me to say, the email is pretty freakin kick ass. So, take the comments for what they’re worth….Also, this critique is free. I usually charge a 6-pack of Porter.

    What I love:
*Subject line – perfect. gave me a reason to open. good usage of branding (eROI) and “fun” (groove through…).

*Creative – killer. a strength of eROIs. would expect nothing less from you guys.

*Text to image ratio – well done. great balance

*Post click landing page – relevant, consistent with email. rocked.

*Unsub page / Pref center – one of the better ones I’ve seen (no option to opt down? we don’t have one, but just asking)

    What I hate:
*Images off – not great, but not easy to do with a black background (see attached skitch image)

    What is so-so:
*”Links” – lots of clickable regions, but they all point to the same page. I could argue both sides of this, but if why not have the chill vs. funky vs. afterhours take me to a slightly different page? Just asking….

*I like the preheader, but it is buried off to the right in very small font. Only saw it b/c I was explicitly looking.
