Taking the Baton – Blog Olympics
Aug 20 2008
I saw the post this past week Tamara and need to think about it as many of the blogs that you listed are some of the same on my radar. SO I will take a look and see if they will pass the baton as you have to me. Hopefully we can find a few new email marketing blogs that we might not know about. I often use your shared aggregator page to review the news at the end of the day in the industry.
And by the way great new profile avatar (weird when I use that phrase, feel so geeky and dirty) on your Twitter Profile. I need to hire that artist to do one for me. But it needs to still hold a baseball bat. That is how I roll.
So here is the list….
1. Return On Subscriber – a collection of ideas for driving online lead capture and subscription growth and management from eROI. Recently released in a new look, check it out and get Alex writing and sharing more as he has so many good ideas and thoughts each day at eROI.
2. Campaign Monitor Blog – These guys churn out some great resources for the email marketing industry
3. Adventures in Email Marketing – Anna gives us some in depth perspective on what we need to be considering in email from good things to bad things. She is cool too.
4. Email Experience Council Blog – A collection of industry leading writers and thinkers that write custom articles to share with the industry
5. Smith-Harmon EDM Review – Some of my favorite designers in email for the work that they churn out in the retail and etail industry. Plus they are FABULOUS dressers to boot.
6. The ReturnPath Water Cooler – Often they bring insight from the point of view that the C-level leader can take and understand the challenges and impacts of email marketing from a business standpoint.
7. The Email Standards Project - What else can be said for the people leading the charge of communication and standards based work with the ISPs. Thanks guys.
8. BeRelevant – Tamara is one of the hardest aggregators of industry resources and news in the world. She goes above and beyond in finding all the sources talking about email and sharing it with us. I don’t think that I sleep much, but I am convinced that she is a decedent of Translyvanian vampires.
9. No Man is an iland – Mark writes some great things and often finds things out there that we might miss. He has a writing style that is straight to the point and helps all of us understand what we need to do.
10. Mediapost Email Insiders - So besides loving most of the people that write these articles, did I say most? I mean all. I appreciate all the work that these people do for the industry and the events that they help put on twice a year at the Email Insiders Summits.
Others I heart are the Bronto Blog for the video that they are producing, The Email Marketing Voodoo blog from the folks at Mind Comet (although I miss Maddy as a writer a lot), the Email Stats Center, and the new DMA UK Email Marketing blog.
I had to write ten, as instructed by Tamara and you know that she could drain me of blood if I did not do so, so there they are. Not in any particular order, but love them all. There are close to 40 others or more that I follow and I salute all of you that are sharing so much data, studies, reports, best practices, calling out good and bad campaigns and ideas week in and week out. We are all so busy it amazes me that as an industry we do so much in the blogosphere that might not drive our own sales forward, but can drive us as an industry to a better place.

Thanks for the mention. We here at MindComet enjoy reading your blog as well in addition to the list of others you provided.
I agree with you in regards to Maddy’s content….I’m still wondering why she hasn’t started an email blog of her own yet :-).

Thanks Dylan :)!!! You are too kind. Are you going to be at OMMA NY? I’ll make sure to dress up special if you will be there ;)!

I will be there the 16-20th in NYC and at OMMA EAST. Have not missed one East or West Coast event yet. Love it.
Now that I know you will be there I need to head out for some more new suits to match the FABULOUSITY you bring to the table.
